Conveniently Busy
With all of the modern conveniences we have in today's world; one would think that life would be a bit simpler. Yet as I type on my laptop, have my smart phone just a grab away and my tablet on the charger; I feel as if these things have served one uniform purpose... To keep me Conveniently Busy.
I can watch a movie on any of the three, and reach a friend just as easily... but somehow with all of these connections to the world around me, I think I used to feel better ties when none of this technology existed. I didn't have my first pager (yes, I said 'pager') until I began college; and a cell phone closely followed suit. Yet somehow, even before these items, I never felt disconnected.
I don't really know the purpose behind this, perhaps I'm just venting. However... I know one thing is for sure; seasons are changing (literally and metaphorically) and I feel as though we, as a people, need to work harder on coming together. We need to take the moments that we have to make memories and to truly recognize one another. Let's do more than entertain the notion of no longer hiding behind our conveniences.
Perhaps today will be the day that we reach out to our neighbors in love, and not out of need.
*Peace and Blessings*
