Darkness

The concept of being afraid of the dark is realer than one might imagine.  Of course it's said that if you are said to be afraid of it... you are actually afraid of what is in the Darkness, rather than the darkness in and of itself.  I bring this up because just as important as it is to embrace and acknowledge the light; we must also be aware of darkness.  No, we don't need to embrace it... we just need to recognize that it does in fact exist.  How do we do this?...

Here is the best way I can explain how to handle darkness.  Be aware of it.  Be knowledgeable of its very existence, but only to the extent that it allows us to avoid it in every way possible.  This is mostly dealing with bringing darkness into our own lives and even further, our hearts.  For instance... If someone does something bad to you, do you press forward from the incident or do you harbor the feelings of betrayal and allow them to fester within your heart, while dwelling on notions of retribution?  OR -- Do you learn from the experience and move forward while releasing yourself and the other person from any potential grudge?

Our responses to intense situations do sometimes dictate our heart.  This is just one reason why we must work diligently to forgive and release.  We must always be aware of our intentions behind our actions.

I'm not saying that every step we make through life will always reflect HIS love and light, but we can certainly make effort to remain on the path of righteousness.  I mean... can you imagine what tomorrow would look like if we all acted through good intention and based in HIS word?!!!  We would embrace differences and celebrate one another just as we wished to be celebrated.

So today I choose to allow light to shine upon me and to allow it to radiate from my being.  I acknowledge to avoid darkness as much as possible, and to shine in the darkest corners so that I may possibly affect change in a positive manner.  We mustn't leave the lost to wander if it is in our ability to lend direction.  Yet we must also realize that we cannot force someone into the light that does not wish to move.

Bottom line is this... Darkness cannot be scary when a light is shined over it.  Embrace your light!

*Namaste*
