Make Change a Tradition

Today, as some of us celebrate Thanksgiving, we must remind ourselves of the opportunity that this day lends.  True enough the origination of this holiday is less than stellar (to put things mildly).  Yet I choose to focus on the positive behind the forthcoming events.  Perhaps in addition to going around the table and speaking on what we are grateful for, we can add the new tradition of speaking about one thing that we will each do to become the change we wish to see in the world.  It may seem slightly uncomfortable at first, but most new things are.  However once we make this a habit; we will see new generations coming forward with their words of change as being second-nature.

There is only one rule to this new declaration... it must function to enhance positivity.  This could be simply refraining from a negative thought or behavior; vowing to reduce waste; deciding to donate clothing to a shelter or those in need; agreeing to communicate feelings in a clearer manner; etc. There is no such thing as a change that is too small, or even too big.

This is not a tradition that is only offered under the guise of Thanksgiving.  Showing gratitude and planning for positive change should be a daily habit.  If they say that new habits can be formed in 21 days, let's plan to make this day #1.  Decide to Make Change a Tradition.

So in the words of the great Jerry McGuire... "Who's coming with me?!"  Passion only seems crazy when you don't understand the purpose behind it.  Seek understanding, embrace and shine!
