Help Each Other

I'm the type of person that sees a deficit and tries to fill it.  Whether that be seeing someone struggle with plastic grocery bags and I offer them my reusable bag to help them consolidate their bundles and ease their transport.  Or I offer someone my cart (free of charge) at ALDI [you have to rent them for $0.25]; or I see someone cleaning up and I join them without even saying a word.  It's not about what I can get out of it; it is simply about stepping up where there is need.  I also do my very best to instill this trait into my daughters.

We are in a time of great separation of the masses, if you have no real 'ties' to someone, it seems like second nature to turn a blind-eye to their struggle.  Yes, around the holidays it seems as though people step-up their outward signs of altruism; even still, we have quite a ways to go.  We must instill the golden rule into the fiber of our beings.  Think about it, if you were that homeless person on the street; how would you feel if someone walked by you without even giving you so much as a second glance?  How would you feel if people walked past you in conversation and were so caught-up in their private universe that your pleas fell upon deaf ears?  How would you feel if you lost your job and those that knew of your situation offered to meet you for a lunch that you could not afford?  How would you feel if you ate tuna and noodles every night; while having to listen to stories of great feasts from those nearest to you?  How would you feel if your chores stacked upon themselves, while those that could help simply walked by mentioning how much work you had yet to accomplish?

Yes, those are a lot of hypothetical scenarios; yet it isn't even the tip of the iceberg as it compares to the true struggles taking place in the world.  Oftentimes we take action without truly thinking of the impact those actions could have on another.  Why do we insist on making things harder for each other, while pretending to make effort of ease?  Why do we force others to drop to their knees to ask for things that we know they need?  I don't think I will ever understand.

The bottom line is very simple... Help Each Other!  Not because of the accolades you will receive from your good deed(s); but because it is the 'right' thing to do.  True enough you may not be able to heal/help the world, but by doing what you can... the impact will be undeniable.

*BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD*
